Relive the grit and camaraderie of your varsity spring training days on this action-packed retreat to Lake Como, where each sunrise invites you to push limits and soak up breathtaking scenery. Spend crisp mornings carving down alpine slopes, trade your skis for a bike to conquer rolling lakeside climbs, and glide across Como’s sparkling waters in sleek rowing shells. Long days are fueled by sweat, laughter, and shared determination, ending with hearty meals and the satisfaction of muscles well used. It’s a perfect blend of adventure, endurance, and nostalgia — a chance to train hard, reconnect with your athletic spirit, and savor the joy of moving through stunning landscapes with a like-minded crew.

Daily Itinerary

This is meant to give you a general idea of the daily schedule. We may adjust the schedule based on weather.

Day 1: Airport Transport, Bike and Ski Fitting

Short spin on the bikes to shake off the legs and get a lay of the land.

Day 2: Bike Ghisallo & Bellagio

Ride from Lecco to the famous Ghisallo Pass where a museum records cycling history. Then descend to luxurious Bellagio.

Day 3: Ski Piani di Bobbio

Hit the slopes at our Dartmouth Skiway equivalent.

Day 4: Row and Relax

Hit the water on picturesque Lake Como for a row with fellow Dartmouth alumni. Then enjoy the rest of the day to wander Lecco's charming Center.

Day 5: Ski Chiesa Valmalenco

Head toward Switzerland for High Alps skiing right on the Swiss border. Option to backcountry ski to a remote Rifugio.

Day 6: Consonno Abandoned City Bike

Ride remote roads up to the abandoned luxury summer escape, Consonno, where impressive graffiti is now the feature.

Day 7: Row & Team USA

Enjoy one more team training on the Lake. Then head into Milan to see an Olympic Hockey Game.

Day 8: Airport Transfer

Say goodbye to this training Mecca, but promise us you will return for more.

Trails, Roads & Highlights

Daily Details

AM - Group pickup at Milan Malpensa Airport and transport to your Lecco hotel. Take time to settle in.  Afternoon bike fitting and explore the Lecco lakefront.

7:30pm Welcome dinner on the waterfront get to know the group.

9am Bike Departure from your hotel. Ride through Italian mountain towns, past small lakes and up historic hills to reach the Ghisallo Pass where a cycling museum and chapel to honor cyclists marks the historic biking road.

Estimated arrival in Bellagio noon with option for a picturesque lunch. 13 mile lakeside ride to return to the hotel. Return on your own time or with the guide by 3pm. 

7:30pm You're in Italy. It's time for great pizza!

9am Van Departure to Piani di Bobbio. Take on the trails at our most local skiway, just 30 minutes up the road. It’s the Dartmouth Skiway equivalent, Pre-Alps style. 

Aperitivo at the ski hill and an authentic local dinner on the return ride to Lecco.

9am Bike down to the local rowing club for a morning row

Enjoy a day off in Lecco, or take the train into Milan to visit the Duomo and Castle Sforzesco

8am Departure for Chiesa Valmalenco. Head up to the high Alps near the Swiss border for bigger mountain skiing. 

7:00pm Partake in the local delights of the high mountain tradition on the way back.

9am Take to the waters of the Lake once again for a picturesque row in singles and doubles. 

Optional afternoon bike ride on remote roads for 1000meter elevation gain.

7:30pm A modern take on Italian food with all local ingredients, featuring chefs and owners who are passionate about Boston and the Charles River.

9am Bike to the abandoned luxury city, Consonno, which was built in the 60s as a summer escape for the people of Milan. With views of Lake Como, this was a spot for the elite, a "Land of Toys". When a landslide struck in 1976 the only road to Consonno was destroyed, cutting it off from the world. Tourism vanished overnight. We will bike the challenging climb to this ghost town covered in graffiti and return on quiet agricultural hills. 

Estimated Return to Lecco 1pm.

8:10pm Olympic Women's Hockey Preliminary Game
Breakfast at your Hotel and transport to ​Malpensa airport.
